I am a husband and father of three kids who will graduate well into the 21st century. I am also a teacher, vice-principal and football (soccer) coach who is passionate about learning about learning and how to motivate and inspire learning and skill development in others. I was schooled in a very different world than the ones my kids are growing up in, and so I would expect their education to look very different. The ideas and thoughts I share here are for the purpose of encouraging other educators to strive toward creating the schools our children need and deserve. This is a moral obligation that we should not falter in despite the many excuses and challenges we can easily find within an education system. Each of us has tremendous capacity to make a difference in the lives of the children we are privileged to teach.
I have taught in independent schools, public schools, international schools and in everything from K-12. I have taught maths, sciences, humanities, physical education and languages. I am also a part-time instructor of education at a local university where I am blessed to play a small part in helping teachers develop their profession. I love football (soccer), cooking great food (especially hand-tossed pizzas) and enjoying all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
